Ok, I have a confession to make. This morning I was running a little late and I didn’t exactly stop when faced with my daily morning, yellow-orange, bane of my morning existence know as the School Bus. If for some reason if I leave the house at 7:40 instead of my usual 7:30 I am in a lose- lose situation. So this morning, I ran out of the house at 7:35, my 14 month old on my hip and started off down the street to the car. And bam, I realize the unthinkable has happened. My husband, my life partner, the man who promised to love and protect me forever, had moved the car without telling me.
As I sprinted to the car, in its new location in the total opposite direction, with my child squealing in delight at mommy’s marathon run to car. I check my phone and saw those numbers staring back at me.. 7:40. I strapped my sweetie in, and mentally prepared for the slow commute.
Part of me feels like School Bus drivers have some sort of sick joke they like to play on drivers. It’s almost like they all call each other to slow me down on purpose. All of a sudden without warning, the 10 minute trip to my parent’s place to drop off my son would soon be doubled to 20. But, as if a switch went off inside, I decided no kiddies, no stoppies!
So, when faced with the evil orange 8 wheeled monster on Riverdale Avenue, I looked for kids, saw none it sight and inched passed the retractable stop sign. Moms, judge me if you want but I pass at least 6 school buses in the morning! Anyway, as luck would have it that was the only school bus I passed this morning, and I was actually on time for work. So that being said, its not something I’ll do often, but if I’m pressed for time..No kiddies, no stoppies!
